King Street Youth Center
This center provides a number of services and programs, including: 

  • After school program (ages 5-10)
  • Teen Futures Program (ages 11-18) offers clubs in:
    • Job club
    • College club
    • Academic Support
    • Healthy Choices
    • Mind the Music
  • Other programs listed on the King Street website

The programs are funded through a weekly fee, but King Street accepts child care subsidies as payment if the family is enrolled in the Child Care Resource subsidy plan.

King Street Youth Center Preschool

Boys and Girls Club of Burlington
The Boys and Girls Club of Burlington is a positive place for children/adolescents to go after school. The Club offers programs in: 

  • Art
  • Technology
  • Career readiness
  • Life skills
  • Health
  • Athletics
  • Summer camps

Membership to the Club costs $5 per year, and a membership form needs to be filled out. The fee can be waived if needed, with Child Care Resource providing the funding. The Boys and Girls Club also offers a licensed care program, meaning that parents or guardians inform the club which days their children will attend and will be contacted if their children do not arrive after school. There is no additional charge for licensed care, but it does require an application, which is found on the link of the website.

Sara Holbrook Community Center
This center assists low income children and their families through a variety of programs, including a preschool program and the New Arrivals summer camp for children learning to speak English. There is also a small food shelf available for families in need.

Howard Center – Child, Youth and Family Services
A program branch of the Howard Center, this office provides programs for:

  • Adolescent employment services
  • Crisis services
  • Developmental services
  • Early childhood services
  • Family support services
  • Mental health services

  • School-based services/Alternative schooling
  • Substance abuse services for teens and adults

VNA Family Room:
At the Visiting Nurse Association’s parent-child center, programs are provided for parents and children from birth to 6 years old. Programs are designed to build a child’s emotional development and social relationships, promote early language learning and literacy, and create a collaborative and diverse community. They include the Family Room Preschool, Strong Families Program, Family Play Program and Fathers and Children Together (FACT) Program.

YMCA
YMCA members participate in various activities such as exercise and sports programs, dance classes, teen and adult classes and programs, child-care, art and music classes, various aquatic programs and much more. Financial assistance for membership and programs is available. The YMCA also offers a handful of summer camp programs from late June-August. It is best to inquire and apply for these camps in the Spring or earlier. Call or stop by the Welcome Center for more information or to pick up an application.
