Chittenden County Transportation Authority: Bus/Medicaid Transportation
The CCTA provides inexpensive public transportation to all Vermonters within Chittenden County. Refugee families that are covered by Medicaid are eligible for a free one-year bus pass. In order to get the passes, you need to call the Vermont Public Transportation Association at the number to the right and tell them that you wish to arrange for Medicaid bus passes for your family. They will need to check to see if the family members’ social security numbers are in the system, so make sure to have their social security cards and birth dates ready, as well as their I-94 forms to be safe. When picking up the bus passes at CCTA, one or both parents must be there along with the volunteer.  It is important to mention that one parent can pick up passes for their children and possibly a spouse; however, you should inform the VPTA on the phone ahead of time. You will need to bring the social security cards and birth dates for everyone getting a bus pass, as well as a photo ID of the individual who is helping the family pick the passes up.
